I really believe an "about us" webpage should tell you about the person, people and/or company so that web visitors can get a real feel for who they are dealing with and then they can truly decide if they want to have anything to do with the people or the company they've been introduced to. No fluff, No fillers, just the facts. You, the webpage visitor, can then be the judge.
Here's my story in the rough. I hope you appreciate my attempt to really give to you who I really am and then you'll understand Housing America's reason for existence. After all, isn't that what an about us page is supposed to do?
In a world of copycats be an original
Mom drilled into our heads that whatever you want you can have it. Just get educated and apply that knowledge to whatever you decide you're going to do and to coin her words "remember son there is always more than one way to skin a cat", a well known and popular saying, at the time, that simply meant there are many ways to get something done, just don't give up - find a way to do it if it's worth doing.
I was taught if a plan doesn't work one way to get what you want, change the plan. Do something different until you get where you want to go. I didn't understand it then, but later I realized that mom was teaching us how to be renegades to do things different for better results.
I followed her advice. I knew she couldn't afford to send me to college. I was offered a job to stay on the farm and work another man's land, but having been taught to be a renegade and knowing there must be something better I joined the U.S. Navy. I had found out that I could serve my country and afterwards get paid through the G.I. Bill to help fund tuition for my college education. I served four years, eighteen months of which was in a war zone. I used the G.I. Bill and earned my bachelor's degree in business. By this time I was married and had two children and was working full time.
I had made a promise to myself and mom before I finished high school that I would become a lawyer some day. It didn't look like I would make it because I had to work full time and take care of my family and law school was difficult to get into. But, being a renegade was in my blood so I did something different that most others would not do. I petitioned for entry into law school in a night school program and for a scholarship that I had to earn. Not the usual way to enter and complete law school, but when you're a renegade you do things different for better results.
I attended law school at night and worked full time. I graduated, having received some honors, and passed the state bar in the state of California. Later I attended another law school and earned a Masters in Taxation law. Ultimately I went on to earn a PhD in Motivational Psychology.
I never forgot the lesson that mom taught me. Own and control your own land. I had no money, but now I had the education and knowledge. I knew several ways to do things differently for better results.
From the cotton fields of Texas, I went on to become an entrepreneur, successful attorney, a college professor, a licensed engineering contractor and it hasn't stopped. That's the reason I am known as "The Renegade Real Estate Investor". We do things different to get better results. It may not be traditional, but it will always be legal and ethical and it will get positive results.
Albert Einstein's famous definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result". In the present real estate market doing the same things that have been done traditionally are insane. The real estate market has changed dramatically and it now requires different and innovative strategies in order to get results that are prudent and financially beneficial to the buyer, seller or investor in real property. As a renegade real estate investor Housing America does just that. In a world of copycats we strive to be an original.
I am admitted to practice law in the federal district courts in the states of Arizona, Nebraska and California and before the United States Supreme Court. I have practiced law and been a real estate broker and investor for more than twenty years. For several years I also served as a sitting Judge Pro Tem in the judicial court system of my home city, San Diego, California.
I started investing in real estate in the late eighties and haven't stopped since. Real estate is one of the best and most secure investments that an investor can make. In fact, more millionaires have been made through real estate investing than any other investment vehicle I know of, even the stock market.
Recently I decided to concentrate my efforts on helping those who have never enjoyed the benefits, pride and emotional well being that home ownership has to offer, the first time home buyer. A first time home buyer is classified as a person who has not owned a home as a principle residence within the last three (3) years before buying a home to live in.
Another segment of persons who have been largely left out of the home ownership picture is the disable home buyer. One of Housing America's emphasis is on finding homes for the disabled buyer. If the homes need to be renovated to meet their special needs we will do that also.
